Brenda was born and raised in the city of Chicago, Illinois. Growing up, she always had a love for animals, dogs especially. She knew that when she got older, she wanted to pursue something in this field but just didn't know what it was exactly. After graduating high school, she attended college at the University of Illinois at Chicago. During that time, she also discovered a passion for fitness and health which lead to CrossFit coaching as a career. Brenda graduated with a Bachelor's in Kinesiology with focus in fitness and health promotion in August of 2019. It wasn't until the last year of her academic career that dog training came to mind as a field of interest. She decided to reach out to dog daycare-boarding-training facilities in the area and started her journey at A Closer Bond!
Brenda initially worked with A Closer Bond as a pet care counselor taking care of the daycare and boarding dogs in the kennels to get comfortable and familiar in the pet care industry. Brenda started to train professionally in January of 2020! The bulk of what she is familiar with is positive reinforcement and the balanced approach to dog training; however, there are so many different methods to dog training she is excited to keep learning more!
Brenda is currently certified as through PACCC (Professional Animal Care Provider) and Pet CPR. Dog training is an art and has come to be such a rewarding job. She loves being able to help families build a better and more solid relationship with their canines and for them to understand each other and enjoy each other's company!
